Been counting calories ever since you can remember? Well, if you’re like the majority of us chances are that you have been abstaining from eating carb-rich foods like potatoes, rice and pasta while you’ve been on a counting spree.

The good news is that eating potatoes, rice and pasta can actually help you lose weight, founds a new study.

The researchers state that eating these foods fills you up quicker and leave you satiating, which lead to far fewer cravings for junk food.
A lot of people tend to give up on their diets because of the hunger and craving they feel between their meals, states the study author Dr Nicola Buckland, from Leeds University.

Eating lower density foods like potatoes can help people overcome their cravings because of how satiating they are, added Buckland.

In that sense, potatoes have same effect that fruits, vegetables, lean meat, fish, eggs and pulses have in satiating you.
The logic in that theory is that foods like potatoes have fewer calories per mouthful, in comparison to processed foods.

They are also loaded with water, protein and fibre, keeping your fuller for longer and less hungry.
