While you’re furiously typing on your laptop, while it’s on your lap, and its fan starts whirring really fast, you may have wondered if the minor heat is affecting your private parts.

A – That’s a totally normal thought to have, and B – Worry not, there’s no major health risk by using a laptop on your lap.

The Verge posed the question of laptops affecting people’s fertility rate, and the response they got was a resounding no. Doctors agree that there is no evidence that laptop use in one’s lap can cause infertility in men or women.

Women have absolutely nothing to worry about, since their ovaries are inside their body. But for men the situation can be a bit tricky.
Don’t worry about your laptop’s heat melting your testicles off, guys. But even a minor change in temperature — as little as two degrees fahrenheit — can lead to fertility issues, according to a Times report.

Back in 2005, laptops were found to raise temperature by up to five degrees fahrenheit. But that’s when laptops were like thick briefcases with poor thermal management. Nowadays, laptops are thin and sleek, very rarely heating up for you to notice at all.

So don’t be morbidly afraid. And if you’re a guy, it’s best to use the laptop on a desk — for the most part.
